Huge growth in bookings to Greece and Turkey
Monarch Holidays have reported a big
resurgence in holiday bookings to Greece and Turkey.
The head of product
and commercial, Gemma Day, has said that demand for the West Mediterranean
was still strong and in line with the rest of the holiday market but the
East Mediterranean was bouncing back.
Bookings to Turkey
have increased by 90% for Monarch Holidays and Greece is also up just
under 70% for the year.

Thomas Cook in
February revealed that Greece was its best selling destination, with over
2 million passengers booked for Summer 2017. With over a 40% increse on
bookings from last year it was the biggest selling destination.
Monarch also said that
their Lapland holidays had also done very well with December sales up 24%
on the year.
The flights from London Gatwick to Kittila in
North Finland was extended for six weeks for the Winter 16/17 season and
will continue for 17/18. Manchester airport flights will also be extended
for the Winter 2017/18 season and that they are considering adding more
accommodation options.
There was four new
flight routes added for Summer 17 from Birmingham airport with Monarch
Airlines, including twice a week flights to Split in Croatia, Naples in
Italy, Valencia in Spain and also a weekly flight operating to Rhodes in
Greece.
Monarch had more destinations to choose from
from Birmingham Airport than any other airline this summer.
