The Thomas Cook Holiday Group plc
is the 2nd largest UK tour operator created by the merger of Thomas
Cook AG and the MyTravel group on June 19, 2007.
The business was originally created by Mr Thomas Cook, who started
out as a cabinet maker. The company started by carrying temperance
supporters by rail in 1841 between Birmingham, Derby, Leicester and
Nottingham.
Since that time the company has expanded and after the merger in
2007 has grown into one of the biggest UK tour operators.
The company's own airline, Thomas Cook Airlines, has flights from
nearly all the UK's regional airports to destinations across the
globe.
Thomas Cook also offers a range of financial services along side its
travel options, including foreign currency exchange at competitive
prices, a Thomas Cook branded Credit Card in partnership with
Barclaycard, the cash passport and a huge range of travel, flight
and holiday insurance policies to choose from.
One of the main reasons for the company's lengthy lifespan and huge
success is that it is committed to producing superb service to its
clients. Mr Thomas Cook once described himself 'the willing and
devoted servant of the travelling public' which the travel group
continue to try to be today more than 160 years after he started
trading.

Cook, Airtours, Club 18-30. Sunset, Cresta Holidays, Manos, Direct
Holidays, Neilson, Style Villa Holidays, Swiss Travel Services,
Thomas Cook Signature and Thomas Cook Tours.
In the UK Thomas Cook boast 45 aircraft, nearly 800 high street
holiday shops including Going Places, a TV channel dedicated to it,
and over 19 million annual travelling customers worldwide, which has
made them the second largest travel company in Europe and the UK,
behind Thomson's.
